The Bruin is the school’s mascot. It is one of the newer schools in the county. It is known for the breadth of its Advanced Placement program. The Broadneck Bruins are rivals with the nearby Severna Park High School Falcons. BHS feeder middle schools are Severn River Middle School, and Magothy Middle School. The school is a part of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools system and is the district’s test school for the classes of Linear Algebra and Calculus III.
