South River Federation

South River FederationThe South River Federation, Inc is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to restore, protect, preserve and celebrate the South River and its ecosystem. Behind this mission is growing movement to create a new mindset about the behavior and involvement of every individual who impacts the South River. The Federation is a growing, healthy, grass-roots nonprofit environmental organization with some 500 members, three staff and a board of directors comprised of dedicated community leaders. Full time staff includes the South RiverKeeper who monitors and documents the health of the South River via weekly bacteria testing and water quality sampling from May through September.

Sandy Point Farmhouse

The brick Sandy Point Farmhouse exemplified several characteristics of Maryland architecture. Its five-part plan—a 2-story central block connected to two wings by single-story hyphens—occurs often in 18th-century southern Maryland architecture.

The fact that the Sandy Point Farm House was built in an 18th century style in the 19th century—making it a “hold-over”—is also typical of Maryland domestic architecture. The house was constructed c. 1815 for John Gibson, a member of the Annapolis elite.

Annapolis Symphony orchestraWith 49 years of artistic excellence, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra is recognized as the largest and most distinguished performing arts organization in Maryland’s capital city, currently under the artistic leadership of Music Director José-Luis Novo. Performing five Classic Series concert sets, two Family Concerts, two Pops Concerts, and special gala concerts and events each year, the ASO continues to rise in excellence and national reputation. The ASO reaches thousands of new audience members each year with its free Summer Series concert, joint concerts with the United States Naval Academy, and collaborative projects with other arts organizations in ballet, opera, and choral music.  In addition, the ASO sponsors numerous award-winning education concerts and outreach programs in community schools, sharing the joy of music making with thousands of school children.

Chesapeake Research Consortium

Chesapeake Research ConsortiumThe Chesapeake Research Consortium, Inc. (CRC) is a non-profit corporation chartered by the State of Maryland. It is an association of six institutions, each with a long-standing involvement in research on problems affecting the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. The Chesapeake Research Consortium supports scientific and technical activities (including research) in the tidal Chesapeake Bay, its drainage basin and adjoining airshed, as well as adjacent offshore waters of the Middle Atlantic Bight. Recognizing that processes acting in Earth systems far from the Bay also affect it, its environment and resources, CRC may also support appropriate projects far beyond the traditional Bay boundaries.

Maryland State Archives

The Maryland State Archives is the historical agency for Maryland and serves as the central depository for government records of permanent value. Records date from the founding of the colony in 1634 to the present. Included in the Archives’ holdings are colonial and state executive, legislative, and judicial records; county probate, land and court records; church records; business records; publications and reports of state, county and municipal governments; and special collections of private papers, maps, photographs, and newspapers.

St. Margaret’s Landing

St. Margaret’s Landing is a community located on the Broadneck Peninsula, just off of Route 50 in Annapolis. We are just minutes from the Annapolis City Dock, Sandy Point State Park, and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Our community is also a short drive to Washington D.C., Downtown Baltimore and BWI airport. St. Margaret’s Landing is served by Windsor Farm Elementary and Broadneck High Schools – both of these schools consistently rank among the highest in the State of Maryland. Our community was established in 2001, with the final phase completed in Fall of 2005.

Temple Beth Shalom

Temple Beth ShalomTemple Beth Shalom is a growing, vibrant Reform congregation with a warmth for tradition. They have over 270 member households representing approximately 1,000 individuals. The diverse membership includes families and singles, from all age groups, living in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and neighboring areas. As the largest synagogue in the county, it is a center of Jewish worship, education, social action, and friendship.
