Located in the Baltimore-Washington corridor, along the Chesapeake Bay, Anne Arundel  		  County&#8217;s diverse population of over 435,000  residents is served by <a href="http://www.aacpl.net/branch_info">15  		  library branches</a> countywide.  More than  1 million items constitute the  		  <a href="http://ibistro.aacpl.net/uhtbin/ibistro.pl">library&#8217;s  collection</a> and 		  staff respond to nearly 300,000 inquiries from the public each year. In addition 		  to its information services and popular materials, the library also provides 		  storytime programming  		  for children,  literacy materials for adult new  readers, special business and health collections  		  and <a href="http://www.aacpl.net/about/default.htm#2">services for patrons with disabilities</a>.</p>

The library is open to the public, and encourages the use of the Library&#8217;s many resources, including laws, general reference materials, state and federal government documents, and state and local histories.</p>
<p>The State Law Library, Maryland&#8217;s oldest law library, features one of the State&#8217;s most extensive collections of legal and government information resources. Staffed by 18 full-time and part-time, professional and paraprofessional employees, the Library stands ready to serve users from all walks of life.</p>
