The Eastport Yacht Club’s annual Lights Parade will be held on Saturday, December 8th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. For the parade, area boaters decorate their sailboats and powerboats with holiday lights and decorations. The lights can be seen along Spa Creek, the Severn River (near and opposite the USNA), and Ego Alley/City Dock.

The Banneker-Douglass Museum, named for Benjamin Banneker and Frederick Douglass, is dedicated to preserving Maryland’s African American heritage, and serves as the state’s official repository of African American material culture. The museum annually sponsors and hosts a variety of preservation, arts, and cultural lectures, workshops, performances, and other programs.

Celebrating three generations and an urban cultural landscape that spans over 300 years, the Carroll House is a restoration-in-progress. This national historic landmark bears great historical significance to the state of Maryland and America as the home of Charles Carroll the Settler, first Attorney General of Maryland who settled here in 1706, his son, Charles Carroll of Annapolis, and his grandson, Charles Carroll of Carrollton (1737-1832).
Many residents in the area know the holiday season has begun when they see the illumination of Sandy Point State Park. They have made driving through Anne Arundel Medical Center’s holiday light show “Lights on the Bay” at the park a family tradition for the past 10 years.
The “Lights on the Bay” event, which opens Nov. 18 and runs through Jan 1., features a scenic drive along the shore of the Chesapeake Bay where more than 60 spectacular animated and stationary displays illuminate the roadway.
Broadneck High School is located on Green Holly Drive. The Bruin is the school’s mascot. It is one of the newer schools in the county. It is known for the breadth of its Advanced Placement program. The Broadneck Bruins are rivals with the nearby Severna Park High School Falcons. BHS feeder middle schools are Severn River Middle School, and Magothy Middle School. The school is a part of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools system and is the district’s test school for the classes of Linear Algebra and Calculus III.
